Job Overview And Salary:

The prefect is the leader of the class, holding each member of the class accountable for their contributions to learning. A successful prefect is focused during instruction and practices seriously during work session. The prefect is also aware of how other members of the class team are helping—or hindering—the learning of others. The prefect is essential in making the class work as a team. The prefect earns 3 wisebucks each day/ 15 each week.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The prefect is on time and prepared for class.
  • The prefect is a model of focused behavior and is always willing to learn.
  • The prefect takes and records attendance.
  • The prefect ensures that everyone is prepared to learn at the start of class, checking that everyone has needed materials and is in their assigned seat.
  • The prefect, during work session, occasionally corrects students who are off-task or being an obstacle to the learning of themselves or others.
  • The prefect communicates with Ms. Wise and the Banker about students who are assets to our learning and those students who are obstacles to our learning.
  • The prefect communicates with the Banker about the weekly wages of other students with jobs, based on the weekly attendance record.
  • The prefect communicates with the Banker about students who have helped others learn and should receive wisebucks.

Reports To

The teacher, Ms. Wise, and the Class Prefect.

Job Overview and Salary

The banker is responsible for paying students wisebucks when they contribute to the learning of others.  A successful banker is aware of how other members of the class team are helping—or hindering—the learning of others. Because the banker rewards class members for contributions, the Banker is essential to motivate the members of the class to work as a team. The banker earns 2 wisebucks each day/ 10 each week.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The banker is on time and prepared for class.
  • The banker collects and returns the wisebuck vault at the beginning and end of each period.
  • The banker is aware of the actions of other students and looks for moments when students contribute to the learning of others.
  • The banker gives wisebucks to students when they help others learn during class.
  • The banker pays students with jobs every Friday.
  • The banker communicates with the prefect and Ms. Wise about students who are assets to our learning and those students who are obstacles to our learning.
  • The banker communicates with the Prefect about the weekly wages of other students.
  • The Banker never shows bias to their friends or gives wisebucks to students without sufficient reason.

Job Overview and Salary

The prime, like Amazon Prime, is responsible for delivering items to others.  A successful prime is aware of work that needs to be returned and knows all the members of the class. Because the prime returns work and feedback to class members, the prime is essential for facilitating the learning of others. The Prime earns 1 wisebucks each day / 5 each week.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The prime is on time and prepared for class.
  • The prime is aware of items that are due and items that need to be returned.
  • The prime helps collect work during each period, answering questions from students about what items are due and how to turn them in.
  • The prime returns work to students at the beginning of each period or as needed.
  • The prime answers questions about where to collect work for students who were absent.
  • The prime helps students find work previously turned in without a name.

Qualifications

  • Knows the names of all the students in the class
  • Able to read various types of handwriting (including cursive)
  • Able to use and help others use Schoology and the Class Calendar
  • Consistent attendance.

 

[Technology Specialist (TS)]

 

Reports To

The teacher, Ms. Wise, and the Prefect.

Job Overview and Salary

The Technology Specialist monitors and reports on the use of technology (mobile devices, computers, and calculators) during class. A successful TS ensures that students are rewarded for productive uses of technology. A TS also holds students accountable when technology is misused. A TS is essential for ensuring that learning is not interrupted by the misuse of technology. The TS earns 1 wisebucks each day / 5 each week.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The TS is on time and prepared for class.
  • The TS checks that all calculators are accounted for an in the correct spots at the beginning and end of class.
  • The TS reports any missing or damaged calculators to the teacher.
  • The TS helps students turn off their calculators.
  • The TS helps students clear their calculators and/or reset them to default settings.
  • The TS helps maintain the phone charging station.
  • The TS records bonus points earned via the charging station.
  • The TS reports to the prefect and/or Ms. Wise when observing students who are not using their phones, computers, or calculators for appropriately.
